With over 60,000 jobs in Mississippi tied directly to the creative economy, and the global influencer marketing industry valued at $16.4 billion, the demand for skilled, media-savvy professionals is skyrocketing. Yet, only 4.7% of the world’s 4.2 billion social media users are able to monetize their content. The Global Gateways Digital Media Institute aims to close this gap by shifting participants’ relationship with technology from passive consumption to active creation—ultimately equipping them with the tools to earn, express, and empower.
The Digital Media Institute is a transformative initiative that addresses both the hard and soft skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive workforce. In addition to hands-on training in video production, graphic design, social media content creation, and other digital media arts, participants will also work toward earning the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). This nationally recognized credential assesses and certifies essential workplace skills such as communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork—core competencies that many employers say are lacking in new workforce entrants.

Global Gateways’ 8-week Video Production & Storytelling Workforce Program provides hands-on training in professional camera operation, lighting, audio, scriptwriting, production, and editing. Social Media Management & Content Creation

Global Gateways’ Social Media Management & Content Creation Program is a hands-on, six-week training designed for young women ages 16–24 who are ready to turn creativity into a career. The Global Gateways Digital Media Arts Training Institute is excited to launch its next Video Production & Storytelling Cohort, an 8-week, hands-on workforce training program for ages 17 and up. Participants will learn the fundamentals of professional video production while gaining experience with industry-standard equipment, production workflows, storytelling, and post-production.
Whether you're interested in becoming a videographer, video editor, production assistant, filmmaker, or pursuing other opportunities in the film and digital media industry, this program is designed to help you build practical skills, gain professional experience, and prepare for employment.
What You Will Learn
Professional Camera & Lighting
Learn to operate professional video cameras, DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lighting equipment, stabilizers, and other production gear while developing proper camera operation, composition, exposure, and lighting techniques.
Story Development & Scriptwriting
Develop concepts into production-ready scripts using story structure, treatments, storyboards, shot lists, and other pre-production tools.
Professional Audio Production
Gain hands-on experience with microphones, field audio equipment, interview recording, voiceovers, audio monitoring, and techniques for capturing clean, professional sound.
Editing & Post-Production
Learn professional post-production workflows, including media organization, editing, pacing, transitions, color correction, audio mixing, graphics, and final delivery using industry-relevant editing software.
Production Workflow & Set Experience
Learn how professional productions operate—from pre-production and equipment setup to filming, file management, post-production, and final delivery. Participants will also learn production roles, set etiquette, teamwork, and professional expectations.
Real-World Production Experience
Work with a local business, nonprofit, or community organization to plan, shoot, and edit a real video project. Each participant leaves the program with completed work for their professional portfolio.
Who Can Apply?
The Video Production & Storytelling Workforce Program is open to men and women ages 17 and up who are interested in building professional skills and exploring career opportunities in video production, film, and digital media.
No prior video production experience is required. We welcome beginners as well as individuals with some experience who want to strengthen their technical skills and gain hands-on experience with professional equipment and industry-standard production practices.
